ADVENT: The Redemption of Scrooge


Advent begins November 30. This advent we will explore how Charles Dicken’s classic novel A Christmas Carol can help us find and embrace the hope, peace, joy and love we need now. A Christmas Carol is a story of brokenness and redemption. The beginning of the story is dark—the book opens with the words “Marley was dead.” We soon meet Marley, former partner of the main character Ebenezer Scrooge, as a ghost. Marley’s ghost promises Scrooge that a trio of ghosts will be visiting him, and the reader is to presume that none of the visits will be pleasant. Scrooge

Hanging of the Greens


SUNDAY NOVEMBER 23, 2025 AT 11:30AM Annual Holiday Tradition Hanging of the Greens marks the beginning of the holiday season with beautiful decorations throughout the church. We need you! All ages are welcome to join in decorating and enjoy meaningful fellowship with others from the church family.

Youth Confirmation Class


Youth who were baptized as young children have the opportunity to learn more about their Christian faith prior to being Confirmed. Classes meet monthly and cover questions youth may have on topics such as the Bible, the Creed, discipleship, Jesus, and other faith traditions. In their final class, confirmands will write their own Credo (statement of belief), then they will confirm their vows at the Pentecost service. Classes meet from 12:00-2:00 pm on the following Sundays: Nov 9, Dec 21, Jan 11, Feb 8, Mar 8, Apr 12 and May 12. Confirmation will be at the 10:30 service on Pentecost

All Saints Day Observance


On Sunday November 2nd, during the 10:30am service, we will honor those Saints in our lives who have gone to their eternal reward. Please submit names to be honored in the binder at church or by contacting Pastor Gladys.

Trunk or Treat – Oct 26 at 11:30am


The entire neighborhood is invited to join us for Trunk or Treat on October 26, 2025 at 11:30am (after the 10:30 worship service). Costumes encouraged. Adults: new this year – trunk decorating contest!  The most creatively decorated trunk – as judged by the Christian Education team – will win a “fabulous” prize!

Weekly Bible Study


Bible Study kicks off Tuesday, October 21 – 12:30pm – We will study the scriptures from the previous Sunday.

Annual Congregational Meeting Nov 9 2025


Sunday, November 9 – There will be a Congregational meeting after each service to vote on changes to the Constitution and Bylaws of Highwater Congregational Church and to elect Ministry Chairs and 2 trustees for 2026–2027. Both the 2025 Amended Constitution and the 2025 Amended Constitution with changes in blue are on our website under the About US tab. If you are interested in serving as a ministry chair or a trustee, please contact Marshall Goodman.

“Souper Tuesday” Senior’s Lunch


** Update ** Our February 17th lunch has been cancelled so we can all celebrate the life of our dear friend and lifelong Highwater Member Larry Baughman. Please plan to join us in March. On the 3rd Tuesday of each month from Oct – Mar, WISH (Women in Service at Highwater) will offer a free soup-n-sandwich lunch at 11:30am. Come and bring a friend! Open to all seniors (age 55+) in our area. At our March 17 lunch, we will have a speaker, Jim McLaughlin of CES Federal Credit Union, on Cyber Threats and Identity Theft. No reservation needed.
